Invited by Don Bosco Technical College, Dr. Terry O’Hanlon-Rose of APEG presented his expertise on identifying the gaps and similarities between the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF). He collaborated with Don Bosco leadership, including Fr. Jun Onocencio and Dean Jennifer Silao, to discuss competency-based education, qualification comparability, and international recognition, aiming to enhance academic mobility and strengthen partnerships in technical and vocational education.
Dr. O’Hanlon-Rose’s presentation emphasized how understanding the discrepancies and commonalities between the AQF and PQF could create smoother pathways for students and professionals. He highlighted the value of competency-based training in meeting industry demands and explained how this analysis would facilitate international recognition of qualifications, easing transitions for those seeking educational or career opportunities abroad, especially within technical and vocational fields.
The exchange between APEG and Don Bosco sought to bolster cooperative efforts in TVET, fostering a more interconnected and globally competitive workforce. By focusing on qualification comparability and international recognition, the session established a foundation for future collaborations, ultimately expanding educational opportunities and professional mobility for individuals in both Australia and the Philippines.
